Bio

​

Dr. Crystal Dieleman is an occupational therapist and Assistant Professor at Dalhousie University’s School of Occupational Therapy.  She began her career in the mid-1990’s, working within the Correctional Service of Canada to support incarcerated men with mental health problems in making the transition from prison to community life. Crystal practices community engaged scholarship examining the intersection of health and criminal justice, with a particular focus on system structures that both positively and negatively influence the health of criminalized populations. As a member of the Nova Scotia Provincial Wellness Courts Steering Committee, her most recent research examines ideologies, processes and outcomes of specialized courts across the province.
