Profile

Dr. Campbell is an Assistant Professor of Community Health and Epidemiology in the Faculty of Medicine at Dalhousie University. She is the Sobey Family Chair in Child and Adolescent Mental Health Outcomes, the first position of its kind in Canada. This position is a cross-appointment between the IWK Health Centre and Dalhousie University. Working closely with her partners at the Mental Health & Addictions program at the IWK Health Centre, Dr. Campbell’s program of research focuses on improving mental health outcomes for children and youth in Nova Scotia. Drawing upon her clinical experience and experience using a diverse variety of quantitative methods, Dr. Campbell works in interdisciplinary environments to promote the use of health services research to inform decision making and policy development.

Achievements

Through the support of the Sobey Family Chair, Dr. Campbell and her colleagues in the IWK Mental Health and Addictions Program created the Healthy Young Minds Team. Dr. Campbell and the Team are working to improve mental health outcomes for children, youth, and families with children, youth, and their families. The team works in close partnership with clinicians, staff, researchers, policymakers, and the community at large, which has played a major role in their work. Most recently, Dr. Campbell and members of the Healthy Young Minds Team were awarded an NSHRF Establishment Grant to evaluate the implementation of a major change in the delivery of child and adolescent mental health and addictions services across the province.
