Membership Information

HPI is made up of a Secretariat of core leaders, staff and interns that coordinate, facilitate, and liaise with three levels of HPI Membership who are leaders and champions for change, and a Governing Council from our three founding faculties that provide oversight and stewardship.

There are three categories of HPI membership:

  • Scholar

  • Flagship Project Lead

  • Emerging Leader
     

HPI accepts applications 2x/year in the Fall (October 1) and Winter (February 1). For more information on membership and application information, click the links below.

HPI Scholar

1 Year Renewable

  • Member of university, college, hospital, health care centre or research institute in Atlantic Canada

  • Engaged in research, a substantial component of which must be research that is clearly relevant to population health

  • Evidence of recent peer-reviewed funding support (e.g., national or provincial funding agencies, peer-reviewed departmental support for research activities) for population health-related research either as a primary applicant or co-applicant

  • Publications (within the past 5 years) and/or other evidence of population health-related research at a provincial, national or international level, such as:  health outcomes research or policy-based guidelines

  • Committed to the vision, mission and values of HPI

HPI Flagship Project Lead

1 Year Renewable

  • HPI has selected four ‘flagship’ population health projects to concentrate efforts on over the next five years. For more information on HPI Flagship Projects, click here

 

  • Each flagship project will have two co– leads to act as the strategic and operational leads. The co-leads must represent different Faculties to support multidisciplinary research

 

  • Flagship Project Leads will each receive a stipend of $2000.00 each fiscal year and in kind support from HPI to fulfil their duties

 

  • Flagship Project Leads must be HPI Scholars in good standing and show evidence that they are achieving impact

  • Committed to the vision, mission and values of HPI

HPI Emerging Leader

1 or 2-year term 

as appropriate

  • Undergraduate or graduate student at Dalhousie in the Faculties of Health Professions, Medicine and Dentistry with an interest in population health

  • Undergraduate or graduate student at a university or college in Atlantic Canada with an interest in population health research

  • Undergraduate or graduate student working with a Scholar of HPI

  • Committed to the vision, mission and values of HPI
